Residential Extension, Lowestoft

Design Concept residential extension in Lowestoft. Private homeowner project.

About this project

This design beautifully merges traditional British architecture with a refined, contemporary extension, creating a home that feels both timeless and forward-looking.

The original structure is a classic red-brick house with symmetrical bay windows and pitched roofs. The new addition introduces a modern orangery-style extension, seamlessly integrated through proportion, material contrast, and detailing.

The result is elegant and serene a home that celebrates heritage while embracing modern living. The extension feels like a natural evolution of the property, enhancing its functionality and aesthetic appeal without compromising its character.

The extension’s smooth, light-toned render contrasts elegantly with the textured red brick, highlighting the new addition while maintaining cohesion.

The flat roof with a central roof lantern brings abundant daylight into the interior, creating a bright, airy atmosphere.

Large floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors blur the boundary between inside and outside, emphasizing openness and connection to the garden.

The extension’s crisp lines and subtle cornice detailing echo the classical proportions of the main house, ensuring visual continuity.

The paved terrace and surrounding lawn extend the living space outdoors, encouraging a fluid transition between architecture and nature.
